How I Lost My Phone, Job, and BFF in the First 40 hrs of 2018

Long story short, I went to a party on NYE and lost my phone. And everything just sort of went downhill from there. Now let’s rewind to catch you up.

December 29, 2017.

My friends and I went to Montreal to celebrate New Years because we thought Toronto was too mainstream. Anyways, we packed our sparkliest dress and warmest socks and got on the road. Sitting in the car for 6 hours got us calling it a night early.

To prep for the big day, we hella pampered ourselves. I’m talking brunch, mani-pedis, and even a rehearsal party with a photo session in our Airbnb to ensure everything went to plan on the big day.

I deleted apps I didn’t use to make room for all the selfies we were going to take and I almost caught hypothermia trying to shower in ice cold water while it was -30 outside. It was going according to plan. We looked awesome and made it to the party late enough to be fashionable and early enough to catch the countdown.

10 seconds after the countdown I couldn’t find my phone and my friend felt so sick that we were in bed by 1am. We tried going back to find it but 2018 seemed to have it out for me. Little did I know, this was just the beginning. We drove back to Toronto and it felt like I’d left my arm behind.

I logged onto FB to check my work schedule and I wasn’t like “scheduled”. I figured I was I wasn’t needed anymore. I was right. After waiting at the Apple store for 3 hours and still not recovering my data on my sister’s old phone, I got a call from my best friend’s sister asking if I knew where she was.

Fast forward to me typing this now. I’m already prepping for 2019.

Ps. They found her. She was sleeping.
