At the stage of my life where I enjoy my own company more than that of others. That’s not to say I’m moving into a cave, but I’m better at cutting people who defuse negative energies, those who feel obliged to my time because I smiled their way once, those who don’t understand that their internalised prejudice is problematic after being confronted. Sunsets have always been fastened to spirituality for me because so many parts of my upbringing were attached to it. It’s a time when the adan (call to prayer) would echo the streets and the bathrooms would see line-ups for everyone needing to make wudu (ablution). The little girl in me thought it was to thank God for making the sky change colours. Even as something completely intangible, it leaves me in awe that sunsets have the power to stop so many in their tracks and observe what He is capable of. 1. Amalfi Coast 2. Capri Island 3. So many people tell me they don’t watch or read the news and blanket it with rhetoric that its “fake” or “slanted.” Some sources are. But it’s not an excuse to avoid the world’s realities. Choosing to not be a part of global conversations and actions should provide you with insight into your privilege of where you live and the resources you have. Not being affected by war, climate change, politics and protests show how much of a bubble we live in. If we don’t make it a priority to seek the truth and stay in the know, how can we expect solutions or change? Find sources you can trust, do your own research, be a critical reader, compare stories, but don’t blind yourself to actuality. #rome #italy #zahratravels #news #ww3isnotfunny

A year filled with dancing, living in two Londons, getting a degree hotter, losing a loved one and gaining an angel, being published FOR ACTUAL MONEY, and learning to do things alone. Almost two months ago I made a really crazy decision to book a one way flight to the U.K. and the straight up truth is that it was really fucking hard. I see all my friends back home have their jobs and benefits and comfortable social circles and I can’t help but think why the fuck am I not there? I’m still figuring it out tbh. We’re all different. But I’m just here to tell you that if you really want something, the universe will conspire to make it happen. Breath. Be patient and work hard.
