Breaking Up with Brazil and FALLing in Love All Over Again

Out of all the stupid things fairytales have taught us, the one that stuck with me was the idea of having only one true love in your entire existence- a single soulmate, or in Zeus’s words: your other half. Well, I’d like to call a big o’ fucking bullshit.

As much as I hate to admit it, I’m one of those people who falls in love with the blink of an eye (but with that in mind, I’d like to add that I’ve said more ‘I love you’s to cabernets than I have to people). We tend to abuse ‘love’ until the taste of it on your tongue resembles drinking coffee after downing a Mars bar – this might reduce its value but what’s wrong with that? If you want to show affection, do it fully and whole-heartedly with 350 calories and all.

As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been a little MIA for a while, physically and bloggingly (I made this up, but ‘blog’ wasn’t a real word 10 years ago either, let’s be today’s inventive Shakespeares). But that’s the thing with love, you have to work on it and work on it and work on it. I date my city to keep the love alive and new, and recently, all I’ve been doing is rotting in a cubical the size of a washing machine, the one without the dryer for a better perspective if you must. I let school and work take over to distract me from my post-summer blues.

Yes, I fell head over heels for Brazil but it’s time to move on. I am starting to understand that it is okay to love more than one thing at once.

I’ve been fortunate to travel often this year, but the thought of cheating on my city burdens me; followed by another to mend old relationships and fall back in love when I come home. It’s autumn, and just like spring, when you find a significant other to hold hands with outdoors, people start pairing back up for indoor cuddles before the deafening roar of winter.

With that said, I want to get back with my city. I want my warm snuggle from my coffee and hold the TTC rails for support. I think I’ve mopped around enough after breaking up with Brazil. I’m once more single and ready to mingle with YYZ. What can I say, Toronto knows I’m a sucker for red so it paints its trees just as I like.

From now, I’ll try my best to better updated my fall ventures!

Final announcement: I’m heading to Houston for 2 weeks so stay tuned for stories from my party in the USA.
