How travelling helped me recover from burnout and love myself again

When life gets hard, my go-to answer has always been to get a new life.

This year, I buckled the fuck down and prioritized my career. Interviews, pitches and grammar took like 99% of my mental space. I made just over $45k as a freelancer in my first year. It’s not by any means enough to live in this city but I worked for every single dollar. I worked in the plane. I worked at weddings. I worked on the beach. I worked in the closet (to get good audio). Blued out. Lebanon, you absolute legend 😘 🇱🇧 Still can’t believe DJT let me in Thanks @cypflip and @jivvyjams for giving us a reason to escape the armpits of winter hell 🙏 If you know anything about Karachi, it’s that it’s not for the weak-stomached. The street food isn’t plated for Instagram, and the hygiene standards? Let’s just say they build character. You come, you eat, you cool down with a lassi or chai if the spice hits too hard, and if you’re not a local, well… consider it a rite of passage 🚽 😉 It’s hard to fully grasp the childhood of people we love in Canada because so many of us grew up elsewhere. Things are making more sense now. Thanks for showing me ex-home @mousamo1 I got laid off recently and didn’t know what to do. I somehow landed on pissing my severance away to one up my little sister 🌚 Solo travel brings me joy. I love my own company. Navigating new places alone is a thrill that keeps me grounded and brings me even closer to those I come home to. But for some reason, people (mostly men) go into a kind of mental gymnastics mode when a woman asks for a table for one.
